A quiet house, ten minutes from the beaches
A detached house with its own pergola terrace and a garden opening onto the maquis. Three guests, two bedrooms, and cicadas for neighbours.
The days organise themselves around the terrace: morning coffee in the cool, a siesta in the shade of the curtains, the barbecue when the sun drops behind the cork oaks.
Arriving
You leave the road, and the noise stops
The house sits at Murtonu, in the hills above Porto-Vecchio, at the end of a track lined with cork oaks. Nothing overlooks it and it shares no walls: you hear the cicadas, the wind in the strawberry trees, and not much else.
It is single-storey and freshly whitewashed, with wooden shutters and a garden running down towards the maquis. You park at the door — a quiet luxury in high season.
The terrace
The room where summer happens
Covered and facing the garden, it is closed off by tall white sheer curtains that lift in the wind all afternoon. They soften the light without ever shutting it out: at midday you eat in the shade while the garden is in full sun.
A long stone table, a wooden bench, a built barbecue. This is where most meals are eaten, and where roughly every decision of the day gets made.
The details
Linen, wood and terracotta
Nothing new, nothing staged: a jar that has stood there for years, stepping stones in the grass, the warm stone of the wall at the end of the day. This is a family house that gets lent out, not a showroom — and that is exactly what makes it restful.
The area
Palombaggia, Santa Giulia, Tamaricciu
The three great southern beaches are about ten minutes away by car, along the same road. Leave early with the towels, come back for lunch under the pergola, and go again when the light turns low and the car parks empty out.
Inside
Simple, cool, well kept
The tiled floor holds the cool and the air conditioning does the rest. A living room open to the kitchen, two bedrooms, a shower room. Enough to really cook, and to retreat indoors on windy days.

What to know before booking
A car is essential
Neither the beaches nor the shops are within walking distance, and there is no useful public transport. Plan on having a car for the whole stay.
Three people, not four
One double bed and one single bed. The house suits a couple with a child, or three adults who know each other well.
No pool, no sea view
This is a simple holiday house in the greenery. If you are after a pool or a panorama over the gulf, this is not the place.
Décor of its time
The furniture has lived and did not come out of a magazine. Everything works and everything is clean, but we are not selling you a set.
Dates are flexible: arrival on any day and any length of stay, subject to availability.
